Tuesday, April 2, a grant partnership between PBS and SIU School of Medicine will be bringing a documentary film screening to Olney Central College’s auditorium called “The Providers”. This documentary is about rural medicine and all of the issues that are surrounding it – financial, opioid crisis, OB crisis, lack of providers, etc…. There are only 3 locations in the state of IL that this documentary is being shown and Olney is one of them. PBS has started running on air the promo for this, as well as NPR. The schedule for the evening is as follows:
• 6:00 – Refreshments/Mix and Mingle
• 6:30 – film screening
• 7:30 – panel discussion with several local providers from different backgrounds
This event is meant to raise awareness to the rural medicine plight in the US, encouraging discussion on ways to address the issues that surround what is happening in today’s world. This event is free and open to the public. Please feel free to print, forward, or post the attached flyer. For more information or questions contact Liesl Wingert at 618.967.0151
